Gotthard accident aftermath: ‘There is no more room for error’

The east tunnel of the Gotthard Base Tunnel has been reopened for freight traffic after a massive train derailment two weeks ago. Akos Ersek, Chief Policy Advisor at UIRR told RailFreight.com that this is now a very delicate moment that requires all parties involved to stay focused. “One of the main concerns is to make sure that there are enough staging areas to have trains ready to be lined up and run”, he underlined.
