The port of Gdansk has implemented Navigate, a digital solution developed by the port of Rotterdam. The online system allows customers to find the most convenient and fast rail, truck or sea connection available to and from the port of Gdansk.

The Navigate system was presented at the Transport & Logistic exhibition that took place in Munich last week. The solution is available on the port of Gdansk website as a separate tab or can be accessed directly via this link. “This innovative system was developed by the port of Rotterdam. It allows you to select the shortest and the cheapest route of cargo transport. There are similar mobile applications that allow travellers to plan their journey with regard to transfers, time and cost. As one of the first ports in the world we introduce Navigate”, said Łukasz Greinke, President of the Board of the Gdansk port.

First phase

Currently, the Navigate solution provides information about connections for container traffic. The port of Gdansk offers customers a well-developed network of sea links all over the world. In Europe, the harbour is connected with all states of the Baltic region as well as with Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain and Greece. In Asia, the port of Gdansk has eight links with China, two routes to South Korea and one link to Singapore and Malaysia. It is expected that the Navigate service will be extended for other types of cargo.

The port of Rotterdam regards the solution as a good opportunity in strengthening its position as the smartest port in the world. “The development of this application and its introduction by the port of Gdansk fits in with our ambition to make the port of Rotterdam the smartest port in the world. Taking over the leading role in digital transformation will make the port of Rotterdam more efficient, reliable and competitive. The cooperation in this area with other ports also optimises the potential of digital solutions. The more ports use Navigate, the more valuable this application becomes”, explained Allard Castelein, President of the Rotterdam port.
