TX Logistik is launching a new intermodal service in Sweden. The company will run a biweekly round trip from Göteborg to Umeå via Eskilstuna near Stockholm. At all locations, the train will make stops at intermodal terminals.

The Mercitalia Logistics subsidiary offers 32 loading units per train on the biweekly round trip. Both cranable and non-cranable semi-trailers can be transported on the route.

The train departs from the Arken intermodal terminal in the Göteborg port and takes six hours to reach the Eskilstuna intermodal terminal west of Stockholm. From there, the train continues on another 14-hour journey northward until it reaches Umeå’s intermodal terminal.

According to TX Logistik, well-known freight forwarders are already using the new route. The company says that it is the company transporting freight along the Swedish east coast’s Botnia railway, with 120 kilometres per hour enabled by ETCS.

Not the first route in Sweden

The Göteborg – Umeå route is not the first route that TX Logistik operates in Sweden. The company already operates a route from Trelleborg in southern Sweden to Eskilstuna, transport groceries for Coop between Kjula and Malmö and operates a triweekly round trip for Lkw Walter between Trelleborg and Eskilstuna.
