Polish rail freight figures showcase years-long stagnation
Rail freight performance in Poland is following a relative downturn this year, with figures being, in most cases, lower than in 2021 and 2022. Intermodal transport volumes are lower in H1 2023 than in the same period in 2022 and 2021. Overall, the situation could be characterised as stable in the absence of big fluctuations. On the other hand, as Michał Litwin from the Polish Independent Railway Carriers’ Association (ZNPK) framed it, another word to describe Polish rail freight would be “stagnation”.
