DHL paper advocates modal shift to rail

DHL has published a report that advocates the shift of express traffic from road to rail. The report has already highlighted the desirability of the modal shift. Now, in a special paper tackling the subject, the company has outlined some of the parameters that would make those ambitions happen. The company says movement by rail has long been part of the logistics mix. Almost all countries want to increase rail freight volumes to help achieve the switch to sustainable transportation. Efforts to ship more parcels by rail are underway, and the industry is taking notice, says the paper.
