TX Logistik expands network in Eastern Europe with latest acquisition

TX Logistik, the international subsidiary of the Italian national railway holding company Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) is expanding by acquiring Exploris Deutschland Holding. This move is expected to boost TX Logistik’s traffic along the east-west European axis, especially in Poland. With this purchase, TX Logistik says it will become the second largest rail freight carrier in Germany, behind DB Cargo.

The Exploris group currently runs around 240 weekly trains, which will be added to TX’s portfolio. The company’s locomotive fleet is will also significantly increase from 91 to 166 thanks to the 75 owned by Exploris. The workforce is also expected to almost double, from 700 to 1,200 people.

Exploris Deutschland Holding

Exploris Deutschland Holding includes the HSL Logistik group, Delta Rail, and Via Cargo. HSL Logistik has offices all over Europe, including where TX Logistik is not active such as Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, and provides long-distance rail freight services. HSL also has academies to coach train drivers both in Hamburg and Frankfurt an der Oder, on the German-Polish border.

Delta Rail focuses on shunting services at the KV Terminal in Frankfurt an der Oder. Moreover, they provide rail freight service for goods such as agricultural products, chemicals, raw materials, and vehicles. Via Cargo is a rail carrier and forwarder taking care mainly of heavy cargo and bulk transportation. The main areas of operation for Via Cargo are Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium.
