China’s CRCC International Corporation Ltd has signed a contract with Swiss intermodal specialist Hupac to provide it with flat wagons. The deal includes EU certification and wagon registration at the Swiss Federal Office of Transport.

The design, manufacture and certification of this batch of railway wagons will be undertaken by CRRC subsidiary Shandong Limited. The two companies have also held talks on the part they can play in shaping the future of intermodal transport in the maintenance and rolling stock leasing sectors, and cooperating on the ‘Belt and Road’ initiatives.

Notable achievement

For CRRC it is another notable achievement, being an expansion of its European interests following succesful exports to France, Poland, Germany and the United Kingdom. Hupac has been active in the Chinese market for the best part of a decade, and has had its own subsidiary in Shanghai since 2015. One of its most recent projects was the launch of the Xin Ou Di (China-Europe-Mediterranean) international freight train for a Chinese chemical producer, which links the network with the Chinese mainland.
