New deal in France to enhance shipment visibility
Shippeo, the Paris-headquartered, real-time, multimodal freight tracking platform and Everysens, a specialist in rail and intermodal TMS software, have announced a partnership agreement aimed at enhancing shipment visibility. Under the terms of the tie-up, Lille-based Everysens will provide Shippeo with “the most reliable rail ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) on the market, based on real-time data from satellite tracking and rail operators”, according to a company statement.
It continued: “This two-way partnership allows Everysens to benefit from Shippeo’s extensive network of road and sea carriers, which provides rail and intermodal shippers and their customers with high quality shipment tracking data. By sharing accurate and reliable road ETAs and maritime shipment events, Everysens can better anticipate the impacts of these flows on rail logistics.”
Stream of railway events
In return, Shippeo receives from Everysens “a stream of railway events, including ETAs, GPS positions and loading statuses. Everysens provides ETAs for full trains, but also for single wagons, a unique feature in the market.”
This enhanced visibility on all rail freight modes will be available worldwide for Shippeo customers. In addition, Everysens covers the entire transport process: tendering, collaborative smart planning, consignment notes and CO2 emissions.
Increasing shippers’ confidence
By integrating their respective shipping ETAs, the two companies aim to offer their customers better end-to-end visibility, creating new opportunities for a unified and unbundled approach to supply chain convergence. Shippers benefit from greater logistics transparency and flow optimisation, the statement added.
”Due to disruptive global events, shippers are facing more and more logistical challenges, and want to know when their shipments will arrive at their destination,” said Lucien Besse, COO and co-founder at Shippeo.
“With environmental protection playing an increasingly important role in transport management, rail is gaining popularity as an intermodal transport method. However, gaining visibility on rail shipments has not always been easy for shippers. The partnership between Shippeo and Everysens increases shippers’ confidence in rail and multimodal deliveries. The partnership between Shippeo and Everysens provides them with key monitoring points, as well as the ability to measure and improve their processes.”
For his part, Youness Lemrabet, CEO and founder of Everysens, commented: “Rail is already an important link in multimodal logistics. The effects of the Green Deal are rapidly positioning rail as the future of freight,”
“The objective is clear: 30% modal share for rail by 2030, with an estimated impact of 290 million tonnes of CO2 saved. To achieve this, rail needs new entrants, for which intermodal is the first point of entry. Thanks to this partnership, we can make the link between rail and the first and last mile transport modes, to make modal shift a reality.”
‘Rail and intermodal ecosystem’
Everysens claims to offer the first Transport Visibility & Management System (TVMS): a TMS specialised in the predictive planning of rail and intermodal transport by integrating real-time visibility into processes.
Integrated with more than 40 rail operators and wagon rental companies, Everysens “brings the whole rail and intermodal ecosystem to their industrial customers.”
Its customer portfolio includes leading chemical, cereals, steel and construction materials companies, among them Arkema, TotalEnergies, ArcelorMittal, HeidelbergCement and CRH.
