What happens if we apply electric vehicle technologies to the rail freight industry? Intramotev, a company based in St. Louis, Missouri, is exploring this question by making rail freight wagons autonomous by retrofitting them with motors, batteries, sensors, controls and communication technologies. RailFreight.com had a chat with Timothy Luchini, co-founder and CEO of Intramotev, who explained how it all works.

When turning an autonome mode, when benefitting of the robust explosion motor – and no longer dependent of electricity…, then success story of the “auto”. started…
Until 100 years later, now, when benefitting of new techniques for batteries, etc., electrification of cars is possible and sustainable.
Accordingly, now the mono structure, vulnerable power supply to railways via wires, as well can be abandoned and the needed a redundant power supply can can be ensured the railways.. .
