Freight considered in integrated rail future for Greater Manchester

It has been something of the poor cousin to Manchester’s famously successful tram network. Traditional heavy rail in the region has lagged behind in popularity and reliability. However, now, with radical changes promised in the wake of sweeping public transport reform, there could be a renaissance on the horizon. Manchster’s fledgling Bee Network, primarily aimed at bus service reform, is reaching out to rail services, and there is plenty of buzz around the region for a potential renaissance on the rails.
