UK industry leaders call for clarity on Ely upgrade

Representatives of the rail industry have once again urged the UK government to make positive moves on the project to enhance the rail network around Ely, in the east of England. The call, led by the local authority for the region, has been joined by the Railway Industry Association and has prompted the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, to make urgent progress on Ely Junction and Network Rail’s Ely Area Capacity Enhancements project. The freight sector would benefit greatly by realising more paths serving Felixstowe – Britain’s busiest intermodal port and rail freight terminal.
