A 78-ton generator is currently traveling via rail from the port of Genoa, in Italy, to Poland. The generator was loaded on a special wagon provided by Mercitalia Rail thanks to which the cargo does not exceed in size and is not too heavy to travel by rail.

The item traveled via sea from Algeria to Italy where it was moved on the railway for the second and last section of its journey. The delivery is being handled by Lo.Tra.Fer, a logistics company based in northern Italy specialising in special rail transport. The train, operated by Mercitalia Rail will cross Austria and the Czech Republic before entering Poland.

The company was also involved in the process of loading the train on Sunday 26 February, providing staff trained for this type of activity. Handling these types of cargo is not a common occurrence in the port of Genoa. It was in fact the first time that a project cargo was moved from the ship to the rail at the Eritrea Bridge basin.
