Network Rail, the UK infrastructure management agency, is currently concluding a lengthy protection and maintenance programme on a World Heritage Site. It also happens in one of the most iconic structures across the railway network. They are in the final stages of refurbishing the world-famous Forth Bridge near Edinburgh in Scotland.

As I understand it, electric on each side of bridge, battery or diesel across the bridge. BEmus for passenger traffic. Current freight flow is one cement empties train. Intermodal and loaded cement to Aberdeen is via Perth.

‘Headroom a problem on the beidge itself? What about retrofitting all rolling stock to be Third-Rail compatible? ‘Never said it’d be cheap.
