Today in RailFreight Live: a UK special

New research shows rail freight is levelling up Britain’s economy and cutting emissions across the country. The Value of Rail Freight report, from the Rail Delivery Group, says total economic and social benefits of rail freight are valued at 2.5bn GBP (2.78bn euros) every year. The areas benefiting most include Yorkshire in the north of England, Scotland and Wales. This is the topic of today’s Railfreight Live.

Britain is facing unprecedented economic and environmental challenges, never before faced outside of wartime. Simultaneously, rail freight, whose benefits have been highlighted many times, plays a big part in spreading economic activity and supporting a green recovery from Covid.

So what is the value of rail freight, and what role can it play? RailFreight Live will dive into these questions today. We will discuss and analyse the topic with a panel comprised of three UK experts:

  • Peter Graham-Freightliner Head of Rail Strategy
  • John Thomas-Director of Policy at Rail Delivery Group
  • Zoe McLernon-Multimodal Policy Manager at Logistics UK

We will also feature a very interesting video item with Heather Waugh, a Freightliner driver that will take us for a UK ride!
