A new rail freight service has been launched in Central Europe, connecting Oradea in Romania with Łódź in Poland. The service will become operative tomorrow on 20 March 2019.

Transmec Group, which operates the private terminal on Oradea in cooperation with P&O Ferrymasters already runs several connections from and to Romania and presents the new line as an expansion of its intermodal network. Managing director of Transmec Group, Danilo Montecchi, said: “Demand for intermodal continues to grow. Last year we moved 13,000 intermodal shipments to and from Romania with a high average fill rate of the trains.”

Departures

The new service starts with roundtrip per week, but will be increased with a second departure running from May. The train departs from the Romanian terminal on Wednesdays at 10AM arriving at the Polish destination the next day at 11PM. It leaves Łódź on Fridays at 8AM to arrive at Oradea the next day at 10PM.

From May, a second departure will leave Oradea on Friday at 10PM to arrive in Łódź on Sunday 10AM. It will depart Łódź on Tuesday 10PM to arrive in Oradea on Thursday 12PM.
