Pajares Bypass in northwestern Spain is finally open

The Pajares Bypass, connecting La Robla with La Pola in northwestern Spain, is finally open. The new infrastructure stretches along one of the country’s busiest rail freight lines on the TEN-T Atlantic Corridor. Volumes are expected to increase by 15 per cent with the new section, the Spanish Ministry of Transport (MITMA) said. However, it is not yet clear when freight convoys will start running along the line.
