50th Siemens Vector MS on the way to Poland

Vectron MS for Laude Smart Intermodal

Polish railway operator Laude Smart Intermodal has ordered its first Vector MS locomotive from Siemens. The contract was considered a milestone, as it marked the 50th locomotive of this type on the Polish market and a sign of a growing intermodal market in the country.

But the order was unique in many ways. For example, the unit will be delivered in pink livery. It is scheduled to be handed over in 2021, and although it is only one locomotive, the expectation is that more order will follow from the new customer.

Connecting Europe

“This is a unique event for us for several reasons. First of all, there will be 50 Vectron locomotives from Siemens Mobility in the hands of Polish carriers. Secondly, this is a sign that Polish intermodal transport is growing in parallel with new orders for modern, low-emission rolling stock. And last but not least, it is the first multi-system unit in Europe that is pink. This unique appearance will surely satisfy all railway lovers”, said a spokesperson of Siemens Mobility.

Siemens Mobility wants to better connect Poland with the rest of Europe and Vectron locomotives are ideal for this task, as they are approved to operate on most of the railway network. The purchase was supported with funding via the Center for EU Transport Projects (CUPT), aimed at the development of intermodal transport and the TEN-T network at large.
