European Silk Road Summit 2023

Martin Koubek crowned RailFreight Ambassador 2023

We have been in search of the next RailFreight Ambassador, and today, at the European Silk Road Summit 2023 in Budapest, the winner was finally announced. We are proud to crown Martin Koubek, Director Silk Road & CIS at METRANS, as the winner of the RailFreight Ambassador Award 2023.

Juergen Huschka, Member of the Group-Management & Executive Director Eurasia at InterRail Holding AG and Miłosz Witkowski Rail Freight Director, Polish Forwarding Company, were nominees for this award as well. Joining Huschka and Witkowski in the nominee’s panel was also Monika Olejniczak, Director Sales, DB Cargo Eurasia GmbH.

What is a RailFreight Ambassador?

Besides coming out on top after both online and in-person voting at the Summit, the new RailFreight Ambassador must be a proud promoter of rail freight, a real bridgebuilder within the rail freight community and an impactful professional for the Eurasian corridor. Martin Koubek is all of the above and received an award on the main stage at the event.

Besides this physical recognition of his achievements, he now stands to gain further recognition within the industry. Koubek will be returning as a speaker at the European Silk Road Summit 2024, where he will make a review of his term as RailFreight Ambassador and even try to reclaim his title.

Majorie van Leijen and Martin Koubek celebrating the victory.
