A new distribution centre dedicated to China-Europe rail traffic was inaugurated in Duisburg last week. The distribution centre is built within duisport’s premises and will serve the YiXinou China-Europe Express that links Xinjiang and Yiwu in China with Duisburg, Hamburg and other European destinations via Malaszewicze.

The warehouse covers an area of approximately 6,000 square metres and is right next to the DIT and D3T terminals. It will provide customs-bonded warehousing, distribution and container train management services, among other things. Moreover, it is expected to reduce overseas cargo distribution costs and train operation costs while boosting rail freight trade between Yiwu, an e-commerce hub, and its European connections, highlighting Duisburg.

According to shipping company YiXinou, the distribution centre is a solid basis for the realisation of development goals that foresee a complete supply chain from Yiwu to Europe that relies on trade via rail, efficient warehousing and more investments. In this sense, the Chinese International Dry Port Group sees the latest development as a milestone in making China-Europe rail transport stronger and bigger.
