French Parliament makes 28 recommendations to boost rail freight

A French Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry has published a report on the nation’s rail freight sector, providing 28 recommendations to restore equity and fair competition with road transport. The document notes “the persistent obstacles to the development of rail freight due to economic, social and fiscal distortions that favour road freight, as well as a lack of political ambition”.
