Lumber train on the way from western Russia to Chinese east coast

Lumber

A new railway line has been added to the New Silk Road, connecting the western-Russian city of Arkhangelsk to Fushan, on the east coast of China. The first container train left Arkhangelsk on 5 April, and is expected to arrive at the Chinese border tomorrow 15 April.

The service has been launched for the transport of lumber. The shipper, CJSC Lesozavod 25, plans to send four container trains per month along this route. The train currently on its way carries 62 large-capacity containers loaded with the commodity.

Dedicated schedule

The train follows the northern route, via the border crossing of Zabaikalsk-Manzhouli and operates based on a specially designed schedule.

Containers are the most convenient way to transport lumber, ensuring the safety of the wood throughout the journey. In addition, the speed of delivery and automated loading and unloading technologies are attractive for shippers of this type of cargo.
