METRANS to apply more fuel surcharges in Germany
METRANS will implement additional fuel surcharges in Germany as of 1 September. The surcharge will occur for transport through the Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, and Nuremberg terminals. The fuel surcharge increase for the four locations revolves around 30 per cent. The company stated that the traction energy surcharge is not going to be increased, at least until September.
Since February, METRANS has been implementing first-traction surcharges for railway and a fuel surcharge for combined rail/road transport to face increasing costs. “This is due to the increase in energy prices, as well as additional costs associated with train delays”, the company said.
METRANS is quite pessimistic when it comes to what the future holds. The company added that “We are constantly monitoring and analyzing the development of the market, but the outlook for the second half of the year is unfortunately not very optimistic either”.
