Despite all the promises and billions of pounds worth of preparatory work and years of negotiations and planning, the Government are losing their nerve again. Once again the North will lose out. We have a Victorian railway system in need of upgrading with very little capacity for freight and the only chance we have to make capacity to get freight off our roads and onto rail without causing massive disruption to existing flows is again in jeopardy. The UK can’t even complete 2 High-Speed lines!
