ERA examines safety culture in the European rail sector
In June this year, the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) will investigate the safety awareness of the rail sector in EU countries and Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. All rail professionals from those countries can participate. Interested parties who want to participate must register in advance. This is possible until February 10th.
ERA will initiate various actions to improve the European rail system’s safety further in the coming years. Among other things, its research will focus on how rail companies can embed safety in their organization and promote it among employees. To achieve that, the Agency will organise training courses. Representatives of the rail sector will also have the chance to explore the safety measures’ practical implementation.
Watch today’s RailFreight Live for more about this project. The show starts on 1pm CET.
One of the initiatives is the study on safety awareness in the rail sector that will be carried out in June. The European Rail Safety Climate Survey (ERA-SCS) will be available electronically in 22 European languages. The aim is to provide a database of risk perception by rail professionals. ERA expects this to allow for “significant advances in safety culture across Europe”.
Participating professionals and organizations will receive a customized analysis based on the input of their staff. Interested parties can register until February 10. In December last year, ERA organized a series of webinars about the various security initiatives.
