Diversion on Simplon route between Switzerland-Italy
On the Simplon railway route that connects Italy with Switzerland construction works are carried out, leading to a temporary route closure for semi-trailers (P400). The works are carried out on the Italian part between Iselle di Trasquera and Domodossola and already started on 16 August. They last until 5 September.
Main freight operator on this route SBB Cargo International reported to carry out diversion services for Hupac Intermodal over the Brenner Pass. In total, the diversion affects 7 of its weekly round trips. However, the diversion is going smooth. “We are characterized by flexibility and able to find the best solution for diversion traffic in the event of route closures without causing interruptions for customer”, the company noted.
Partnered up
SBB International ihas partnered up with LTE for the diversion. The carrier has taken over the traction service between Munich (Germany) and Brennero (Italy) for the time being.
