Freight train derails in the Netherlands on Christmas eve
A freight train derailed at Vlissingen-Oost in the south of the Netherlands on Monday, 24 December. The train was put back on the rails on Wednesday morning.
The freight train that derailed on Monday evening in Vlissingen-Oost was recovered by infrastructure manager Prorail on Wednesday, the Dutch news website NU.nl reported. It was put back on track with the help of two cranes of Mammoet Holding, Prorail added.
Accident
On Monday evening a DB Cargo-operated locomotive pulling one freight car shot through the fender before it came to a standstill on the middle of the road. It affected road and rail traffic on the first day of Christmas. Traffic has now been resumed.
Not like the UK where everyone would have argued over who was responsible and it would have taken two weeks to do the re-railing not two days!!
