Lithuanian Railways on the look for new head
Lithuanian Railways are starting the process to select a new CEO. In December 2021, the former CEO Mantas Bartuškas resigned from his position, and the company did an interim internal restructuring to keep running efficiently.
Since 4 January, the LTG board appointed Egidijus Lazauskas as the new interim CEO. He used to be the general director of the company’s freight branch LTG Cargo since 2017. His position in LTG Cargo was covered by Eglė Šimė temporarily. It is still unclear whether, after appointing a new CEO for the LTG group, they will return to their previous positions.
LTG policy remains the same
The new CEO to be will be able to start working in the second half of the summer. The tasks accompanying the position are clear since the company’s policy and strategy have remained the same in the last few years.
“The main challenge of the LTG Group is to accelerate diversification and related structural changes and digitisation. We are analysing and assessing in detail the impact of the Russian government’s war on Ukraine, but it is already clear that the situation calls for even faster implementation. It is crucial today to react quickly, adapt effectively to the changing business environment, and set clear future directions. We hope that the company’s future leader will continue to focus the team on important work and contribute significantly to the development of railways – the most sustainable mode of transport – in Lithuania”, said Kęstutis Šliužas, chairman of the board of LTG.
