Freight wagon derails after Dutch collision
Track repairs were needed after a freight wagon was partially derailed when it was hit by a Captrain locomotive near the Dutch city of Venlo.
National infrastructure manager ProRail said the derailed wagon, which had the livery of bulk liquid chemical and gas logistics specialist Den Hartogh, had not been carrying any hazardous substances. Belgian freight operator Captrain is part of SNCF Logistics.
Investigation
The accident happened at the marshalling yard in Venlo on the morning of Friday January 5. Emergency services requested that rail traffic in and out of Venlo be suspended while investigations took place. Repairs were completed by around 11pm.
