Rail links between Duisport and the Chinese hub of Yiwu are being strengthened with the opening of Chinese operator YXE International’s Duisburg office.

YXE International Container Train has been operating regularly between Yiwu and Duisburg since 2014, and its new Yixinou International Freight GmbH branch office will be a contact point both for the logistics firms operating out of Duisburg and other local industry.

Importance

Yiwu is China’s most important trading and eCommerce centre, particularly for small consumer goods, highlighted by the fact that around two thirds of all Christmas items sold around the world come from Yiwu.

Erich Staake, Duisport Chief Executive Officer, said: “The establishment of a branch office for the optimisation of this important trading link once again highlights the importance of the Port of Duisburg to China’s trade of goods with Europe.”
