Chinese company China Railway Container Transport Corporation will participate in the so-called Middle Corridor Multimodal joint venture established by Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The idea of the Middle Corridor Multimodal joint venture surfaced already in April 2022 and was officially launched in October 2023. Its aim is to provide “services on a one-stop-shop principle, guarantee delivery times, and pursue a coordinated policy for developing multimodal service in the direction of China – Europe and Turkey – China”.

This is not the only development concerning the Middle Corridor for China and Azerbaijan. The two countries, together with five others, recently agreed to form the International Association Eurasian Transport Route. This association should be tasked with formulate tariff policies along the Middle Corridor.
