UNICON 1520 to ship sodium hydroxide for RusVinyl

Railway operator UNICON 1520, part of United Wagon Company, has won a tender to transport sodium hydroxide for producer RusVinyl over a period of two years. UNICON 1520 will provide RusVinyl with a fleet of tank containers on flat cars to facilitate the transportation.

The sodium hydroxide will be used in paper, metal and food production, in addition to other sectors. Rusvinyl is a joint enterprise between Russia’s SIBUR Holding and Belgian company Solvay. The region covered by the agreement includes the territory of Russia, with port access via Finland and the Baltic states.

Russian leader

Victor Ivanov, Executive Director at UNICON 1520, commented: “RusVinyl is a fast-growing enterprise, today numbering among Russia’s leaders in polyvinyl chloride production. This partnership will provide us with new shipping opportunities within the plastics industry.”

Andrey Zhukov, Director of Logistics at RusVinyl, added: “This partnership will simplify our logistics operations and give a further boost to our market competitiveness.”
