Rail Cargo Group (RCG), the Austrian state freight carrier, is intensifying its rail logistics activities in Slovenia, after becoming the majority shareholder of Intereuropa-FLG. It has now become Rail Cargo Logistics, with RCG’s stake up from 50 to 74 per cent.

Intereuropa-FLG has a long history, and has been part of Rail Cargo Group – which is the freight arm of OBB – since 2005. Based in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, its range of services ranges from standard to containerized freight, and mainly covers the handling of intermodal transport across the sea ports of the Adriatic.

Vital hub

Transit traffic in particular is organised through the Port of Koper, with customers also benefiting from logistics services such as warehousing, transhipment, consignment tracking, customs clearance and consultancy.

Under the new arrangements, Rail Cargo Logistics offers comprehensive, high-quality logistics support, consolidating its position as one of Slovenia’s foremost rail logistics providers. It also further boosts the status of Slovenia in terms of its position as a vital hub of two important pan-European rail corridors, the Baltic-Adriatic & Mediterranean, enabling efficient rail freight traffic across national borders.
